Smile for a Lifetime Foundation
The mission of Smile for a Lifetime Foundation or S4L is to create self-confidence, inspire hope and change the lives of children in their communities in a dramatic way. The gift of a smile can do all this for a deserving, underserved individual who, in turn, can use this gift to better themselves and their community. During treatment, many S4L local chapters also encourage scholarship recipients to participate in community service through a “pay it forward” program inspiring young people to participate in lifelong giving.
Currently, there are 137 chapters serving 42 states across North America with movement to increase those numbers to more than 200 chapters, covering 50 states and Canada in the next five years. Each chapter commits to serve at least six or more young people annually. By the end of 2013, some 800 to 1,000 young people will have received the gift of a smile with $4 million to $6 million of orthodontic services donated.
Read about this initiative, share it with your dental team and consider the possibilities of a Saskatchewan Chapter!
Job Board
The Saskatchewan Dental Assistants Association has a long history of supporting oral health care in Saskatchewan. One of the ways we support the dental community is through the maintenance of our job posting board.
For many years the SDAA has provided this service at no cost to the employers who are seeking registered dental assistants. This is the main source of information for any RDAs in the province, and out-of-province, who are seeking employment. With an increasing number of postings, costs and staff time, we will be implementing a charge for this service effective immediately. For all job postings from this point forward, a charge of $125 per job post for a three month posting will be required before the posting is approved and displayed. Once a request to post has been received, email instructions will be forwarded for payment.
If the position is filled before three months is up, we will remove the posting with your notification. This charge will enable us to continue to provide this service to both our members and to the dental community, into the future. This also brings the SDAA job posting process in line with other oral health agencies.
We thank you for your participation to date, and look forward to your ongoing support.

You will receive your NDAEB certificate through the mail.
In order to upgrade your status from Temporary Restricted to Full Practice; you must provide SDAA with a copy of your NDAEB certificate. Please upload it through the Document Upload or email it directly to the SDAA. Once these steps are completed and processed you will be able to access and print your Full Practicing Licence from your Member Portal.
10. What about Supervision?
The SDAA Regulatory Bylaws are silent on supervision. This means that an RDA, (holding a full practice licence) practising within their training and scope of practice, under the prescription of the dentist can practice. They do not require any supervision. It is up to the dentist to determine how the treatment plan is generated. If you have an employee with a Restricted Practice licence, they require supervision and can be supervised by a RDA, SDT, RDH or Dentist.
